* The so-called “Swiss” bearing spec is a much-abused marketing fiction – never heard outside the skate world and totally meaningless to real bearing engineers and manufacturers. First to use the tag was a prominent American brand that began sourcing certain bearings from Switzerland nearly 50 years ago. It vaguely suggests high precision, but “Swiss” has no formal definition whatsoever in relation to any materials, components, specifications, or tolerances for either machining or assembly.
